The Big Dig
A treasure hunt on Town Beach, Port Macquarie
Pirates invade Port Macquarie…. Heave-ho me hearties
The 2017 Big Dig will be held on Sunday May 21, 2017.
This major fundraising event is now in its sixth year, and raises funds for our local community and international projects.
Last year our beneficiaries were: • Bravehearts • Tacking Point Lighthouse Project • Life Education • The Mera School Project, Nepal. This year's beneficiaries will be announced shortly.
The Big Dig Treasure Hunt on Town Beach, Port Macquarie was initially created by the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise to add value to our community by hosting an annual family fun day. This years Project Manager, Peter Grob, is making sure it will be bigger and better than ever. It is a great way to bring together so many young families in our local community and have kids dressing up as pirates to find their treasure in the sand!
Registration will commence from 9am.
Mayor Peter Besseling will open the Big Dig at 10am.
There will be a 'Walk the Plank' at 10.15am.
The Digs start at 11am. Everyone wins a prize!
There are 4 age groups from 0-12 years of age at $5 per child and the “THE BIG DIG” at $30 per person) with each digger having to retrieve a token from the beach.
We welcome Life Education’s participation with “Healthy Harold”; Brave Hearts with “Ditto”. In addition to the “Big Dig” treasure hunt on Town Beach, there will be a Pirate Jumping Castle, and lots of pirate games supervised by the Rotary Sunrise pirates and wenches.
The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise would like to thank Port City Bowling Club for being the major sponsor again this year, plus our other supporters Big W, Greenmeadows Health Centre, Stihl Shop Port Macquarie, Port Macquarie X Ray, Coast Front Realty, Port Macquarie News, Trotter Automotive Group, NorthCorp Accountants & Financial Services, Salt Water Wine, Designer Living Kitchens, Lasting Results and Debbie Marks Podiatry.
Sponsor The Big Dig
The Big Dig has become a major event held on Town Beach in Port Macquarie. The kids get the chance to win prizes by digging up tokens in the sand. They love it and so do their parents.
Over 1000 kids and parents attended last year, Big Dog from NBN television was there and lots of media coverage before and after. It will be bigger again this year and yes Ditto and Healthy Harold are back!
As a sponsor what's in it for you?
Regular promotion in print media, local paper, posters distributed to CBD businesses, community billboards, schools and on NBN television.
We also promote it to 56 Rotary Clubs on the Mid North Coast and beyond. All accommodation venues have the promotion. Glasshouse tourist info centre has an advertising banner for the event. Sponsors may erect their own tent or display for marketing on the day.
