The Recycling Hub appears at the Foreshore Markets, every 2nd Saturday of the month.  Bring. your tricky recycling items along to the Recycling Hub, where Hastings Enviro club members can help you be part of the solution and reduce our impact on the local environment.

Interested in learning more about microplastics in the Hastings region?  Hastings Enviro is a Regional Hub for AUSMAP  - an organisation focussed on mapping microplastics pollution around Australia.

We have accredited volunteers, trained to ensure we collect critical microplastic data that is scientifically valid.

We welcome participants in our AUSMAP Scientist for a Day programs, run throughout the year.

We are looking for volunteers interested in  helping out in a range of areas for future activities,  including event management, promoting and telling the stories around the event, local supplier engagement, and help on the day.

In February 2024, Hastings Enviro and our partners, Energy Forever, Saint Columba Anglican School and Climate Change Australia held  a local renewable energy summit - Electrify 244X

Featuring global and local experts to inspire, educate and activate the local community to increase access to renewable energy, the event featured  electric car displays, local suppliers and practical, easy-to-implement solutions to help locals from 244X save money and save the planet.

This project aims to create ‘microforests’ in the local area. What is a Microforest? Imagine a tiny, but multi-layered forest that contains all the range of tress and shrubs that “captures carbon, breaks down decomposing organic material to return nutrients into the soil, and creates habitat for wildlife — just on a smaller scale” (Tucker Bush). The size can be as small as a front verge to as large as a tennis court.

By building a Microforest, we hope to help people connect more with nature and inspire an understanding of how even they can help improve the local climate, biodiversity and even communities. We hope to connect deeply with a range of groups from the local communities, including teachers and schoolchildren through participating and linking with their studies, private landowners, property developers and Councils and demonstrate how quickly a Microforest can make a difference.

This project is looking to encourage people to eat locally produced food, especially focusing on regenerative agricultural producers and promoting reducing food miles.

Based around a website and directory, the project is aiming to hold an “Eat Local Challenge” and create a range of levels and resources to help people take part. We are looking for help with creating menus, creating videos about your experience with local food including cooking and preparing, speaking with local providers.
