A Liberty Swing for Port Macquarie

Our community project to enhance access, inclusion, engagement and fun for all

A Project in full swing....

  • Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (PMHC) has prepared a concept plan for the site. It includes safety fencing around the swing as well as a pathway linking the kiosk and accessible toilets. The PMHC Access Committee have allocated $10,000 in funding towards the project.
  • Pip Cullen from Altogether Therapy has applied to Variety, a children’s charity which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with special needs in Australia and throughout the world. Variety in Australia initiated the Variety Liberty Swing Program in 2004 and since that time has assisted with the funding of a number of Liberty Swing installations across the country.
  • Sunrise Rotary have been volunteering in the Town Beach precinct since 2016 –providing commemorative seating and connecting this via accessible pathways on the Stewart Street headland. The Liberty Swing is our next focus in this area. Our volunteers are sourcing costings, exploring funding opportunities and planning for the installation. (Expect to see Sunrise Rotary blue shirts down on site as the project progresses!)

As we progress this community project we welcome interest and support.
